On my pad…

Decided to take down some notes in notepad and found the following:

Your consciousness affects the behavior of subatomic particles
- or -
Particles move backwards as well as forwards in time and appear in all possible places at once

Wish I could remember what my thought process was when scribbled that… hmm…

Sooooo sick *cough*

Oh man, this is possibly the sickest I’ve ever been. I’m on my 4th day of high fevers, violent coughing, and horrible sinus congestion. I spent about four hours in the emergency room Saturday night when my temp hit 104.5. I was in bad shape for sure. When I got there my vitals were all over the place. My resting heart rate was in the 140s, my blood pressure was dangerously low, my blood oxygen saturation was poor, and I was extremely dehydrated. If they hadn’t been able to get my temperature down as quickly as they did I would have been in real danger of permanent brain damage.

When my vitals settled down a little bit they took blood samples, mucus samples, and chest x-rays to figure out what was making me so sick. Strangely enough, everything came back negative. I didn’t show pneumonia in my x-rays, and I tested negative for both the cold and flu virus, and they ruled out bronchitis as well. My doc was pretty stumped. He said he figured it would have to be a nasty bacterial infection to be able to push my temperature that high. Since my co-workers got sick as well, I’m blaming it on some crazy Indian bacteria that hitched a ride, but who knows.

After four hours hooked up to an IV dripping saline into my arm, 800mg of Motrin, two Tylenol, and four antibiotics I was able to go back home. Now I’m taking an additional five day course of antibiotics to kill whatever this thing is. Here’s to hoping this goes away without much more of a fight!

mah brain!

I haven’t gotten the results from my MRI yet, but in the meantime… here is my brain!

Still frames can be found here. It’s a little bit creepy being able to see inside my own head…

Skittles the photographer

This year Skittles got his very own camera for Christmas. It attaches to his collar and sees everything he does.

Skittles has been wearing his camera and taking pictures for a couple weeks now so I figured I would start showing off all of his hard work. Skittles has his own photoset on my flickr page that I will continue to update as he takes more and more great pictures. Check it out here.

!@#$!@%

My laptop died last week, and when I say died, I mean it really died. It’s a pretty little aluminum corpse…

So there I was just browsing the net when it randomly shut itself off. I figured it wasn’t a big deal, the battery had probably just run down and caused it to auto-shutdown. That’s happened before, no big deal, however this was not the case. When I tried to turn it back on all I heard was a couple of spinning fans and dead silence. No beep. No HD noises. Nothing. I called applecare and they had me try all the normal stuff, resetting the pRAM, trying to boot in verbose mode, trying to boot to the install CD, etc… nothing worked. So now I’m waiting for apple to send me a box so I can send my poor little laptop to the doctor.

This sucks.

Hummer Hit and Run

So it was bound to happen sooner or later I suppose. This morning while riding my bike to work I got clipped by a passing car. And not just any car, oh no, it was a giant ugly bright yellow bling-bling douche-bag hummer.

Normally I choose to ride way off to the side of the road in the little gutter lane. This isn’t always the smoothest part of the road but most of the time it’s clear of debris and I feel safer being farther from the passing lanes of traffic. Anyway, so there I was, on my way to work like every morning, peddling down St. Francis when I hear a loud “whoosh” and feel a sharp pain in my left elbow. The sudden jolt to my elbow forces my bike to turn into the curb and flings me up on the sidewalk. I managed to get my leg out in time to absorb the brunt of the fall and keep me more-or-less on my feet. Once I had steadied myself on both feet I looked up to see a giant yellow hummer speeding away from me. I don’t know if he didn’t notice he had hit me, or if he was just trying to get away, but neither would really surprise me. I guess it makes sense that it was a Hummer. I mean, they are bigger than most cars on the road and I’m sure the visibility from inside those tacky plastic tanks is horrible. Even so, my elbow made a really loud noise when it bounced off what I assume was his mirror. What a dick.

so anyway, needless to say I did not ride on the road at all the rest of the way to work, and it got me thinking, maybe it’s safer to take up more of the road. I mean, if you’re a third of the way into the lane the passing cars will definitely notice you (even in a plastic tank) and they’ll have to maneuver to get around you. That is preferable to not being seen at all isn’t it? I would much rather be seen and avoided than not seen and then ignored after bouncing off some assholes mirror. >.<

Presidential product placement.

psh… pretty subtle george.

9/12/2006 … Armageddon?

Ever heard of The house of Yahweh? Me either. Nuclear war tomorrow? Not likely. It will be interesting to see what these people have to say when tomorrow comes and goes without any nukes flying… only birdies and butterflies. Whatever, I hope they sell lots of t-shirts. See ya tomorrow!

NSA eavesdropping program ruled unconstitutional

A federal judge on Thursday ruled that the U.S. government’s domestic eavesdropping program is unconstitutional and ordered it ended immediately.

“Today’s ruling is a landmark victory against the abuse of power that has become the hallmark of the Bush administration,” said Anthony D. Romero, the ACLU’s executive director. “Government spying on innocent Americans without any kind of warrant and without congressional approval runs counter to the very foundations of our democracy. We hope that Congress follows the lead of the court and demands that the president adhere to the rule of law.”
